On Choosing Public University with Audrey Christle

Audrey Christle is a top performing business executive who currently works at LexisNexis and has for the past 14 years. Of course, nobody starts out rising to the top in his or her field, as Audrey Christle knows. Audrey Christle began her career as a student at Florida Atlantic University, and would not ever trade her experience there in exchange for an education at a private college.

As a Florida resident, Audrey Christle already received a far, far lower tuition rate than a student would at a private liberal arts college. Paying the in-state tuition rate freed Audrey Christle up to focus more on her studies and also not have to leave her home state of Florida for college. Her education was of extremely high quality, and Audrey Christle knew at the time that going to a state university meant that she would find the transition from high school to college much easier to deal with, because she would be surrounded by people who were also from her home state.

For Audrey Christle, investing in an education at a public university also meant that she was able to shop around more in her first year of college. Audrey Christle felt as though going to a private university would have created an unreasonable amount of pressure as an undeclared freshman, because private universities are often well known for a certain department or prestigious program. For Audrey Christle, finding the answer in a lower cost public university education was the way to go.

Her current position as a businesswoman at LexisNexis who also holds a law degree is testament enough to Audrey Christle’s experience in public university. It is not true, says Audrey Christle that you need a private college education in order to get far in life.
